The recent news of the UK Government abolishing the amber travel list of countries and consolidating the restrictions into a much simpler format has been welcomed by the travel industry. Further good news that more countries are off the red list means that travel is back on. We have seen a large uptick in brokers asking about travel insurance policies for their clients and we are pleased that we have been able to offer a range of cover meet their needs.
Requirements for travel are also being simplified and if you are travelling to a green country, you will no longer need to take a COVID test before your return which will no doubt spark a flurry of trips abroad before the end of the year.
There is however, still a red list of countries, even though it’s vastly reduced, as you all know, and we ask brokers and clients to check their insurance policies carefully before any travel. The red list countries, at the time of writing, still come with warnings from the foreign office that people should only travel for essential reasons and travel insurance policies may not cover clients in those circumstances.
We are pleased that the travel industry is getting a welcome boost before the October half term holiday period and we urge all travelers to ensure that they have adequate insurance to cover their trip, including COVID cover.
